Family Law & Divorce Services in Montana
Divorce is hard, but the paperwork doesn’t have to be. If you are struggling with how to get a divorce in Montana, you have come to the right place. My goal when helping you with your divorce is to make the process as simple as possible. Whether I am drafting up a flat fee joint dissolution, or getting the ball rolling on a contested dissolution, I aim to streamline and simplify the process so that you can focus on the important stuff (you and your family), and not worry about the rest.
Family law is, of course, not just about divorce. Parenting plans, legal separations, and adoptions are a few other areas where we offer assistance. Whatever your family law situation may be, I can quote a flat fee service to fit your needs.
What’s Included
When you purchase one of my flat fee services, you always get the following:
- Legal assistance and advice: When you hire me to perform a flat fee service, you are hiring an attorney on a limited scope basis, and I am there to give you assistance and advice.
- Fully completed paperwork: With your flat fee purchase, you always receive fully completed paperwork, ready to file. Generally, I file the paperwork as well, and the filing fees (paid to the clerk of court) are included in the fee.
- Unlimited communication with me regarding the service you purchased: When you purchase one of my flat fee services, you and I communicate as much as needed to get the paperwork ready, and to make sure you feel good about the process.
- No surprise fees: There are never any surprise fees for my time when purchasing a flat fee service. You pay the amount listed and get the service listed, period.
- Compassionate and competent care: Divorce is not easy, and I am here to guide you through the process.
- E-signature: Unless otherwise requested, I always set up your documents for e-signature using a secure program, expediting and simplifying the signing process.
- Assistance with process service: If your documents need to be served, I will set up process service for you for no additional charge for my time. I do bill you for the process server fee, which varies based on the situation.

FAQs
How long does it take?
The answer is that it varies depending on what you purchased. Generally, I try to get you drafts of your paperwork within a week of receipt of your intake forms. I can do my services on an emergency/expedited basis sometimes, depending on my schedule. I do not charge extra for emergency/expedited work if I have consented to it.
How much does it cost?
It depends what you are purchasing! Here is a full menu of my services, which range from $145 to $2000. The fee listed is the totality of what you pay, if it is a flat fee service.
Now, if you want to know how much a divorce costs in Montana, generally, the answer is that fees vary. You can do it yourself for $0, or you can spend upwards of $20,000 on a retainer for a lawyer. There are a lot of factors that determine how much your divorce will cost.
Are there really no additional fees?
There are really no additional fees. I do charge for additional costs if they are incurred (such as the fee charged by a process server if you ask me to set up service of your documents) but I do not charge any additional fees. What you see is what you get.
Wait, we can really divorce jointly?
Yup! Once the paperwork is filed, the judge usually enters your decree of dissolution within a few days. So, this is not only a cost effective option, it is the quickest option.
Can you offer your flat fee services in other states?
No, unfortunately I cannot. I can only assist with getting a divorce in Montana, since I am only licensed in Montana.
Can’t I do my own divorce papers in Montana?
You sure can, and I never want people to feel disempowered about their ability to do their own paperwork. I offer my services for people who desire more assistance with their paperwork!
Are you sure this is legit? I’ve never heard of another lawyer offering flat fee family law services.
I hadn’t either, until I started offering them. I developed my flat fee services when I got fed up with managing retainers, charging for every email, and wanting to simplify the process. I assure you that this is very legit, and here are my Google reviews to prove it.
How does the flat fee divorce process work?
You purchase the item, and I receive an order notification. Then, I send you an email with web-based intake forms that you can fill out at your convenience. Once I get those intakes back, I start drafting. I try to get you a draft within a week, though sometimes that timeframe changes. Then, we go back and forth editing the documents until they look good to you. At that point, I file your documents.
