Can’t afford an attorney? You are not alone. Luckily, there are a few good resources that you can look into:

1) Montana Legal Services Association – this is a great starting point. You may financially qualify for free or reduced fee legal aid, you can fill out the application online. To be very honest with you, most people don’t qualify, or if they do qualify for a reduced fee attorney (known as a “modest means” attorney) it is hard to find a lawyer who will take the case. But, it is a good place to start your search, and you might end up with a free or less-expensive lawyer.

2) Montana Law Help – this is a great

website if you are going to end up handling your own case or doing any of your own paperwork. The packets give a good overview of the processes and give you some information about the law in various areas.

3) The Supreme Court Website – not to be outdone, the Supreme Court put a bunch of great resources up on their website, as well. The forms are approved by the courts and very comprehensive (sometimes a little too comprehensive, but that is your call!). This is a great resource for not only family law forms but all civil and criminal litigation matters.

If the free resources listed are not quite enough for you, I created another option: www.diydivorcenow.com . On this website, I offer easy-to-use fill-in-the-blank form packets based on my own forms, I offer flat-fee form review, and I offer unlimited email support packages. It’s basically DIY with a little bit of attorney help for a low, flat fee.

Of course, if all else fails and you end up requiring the help of a Kalispell divorce attorney, I do offer a 30 minute, $75 phone consultation.
